Home is Where You Hang Your Hat

We went to First Monday Trade Days in Canton a few weeks ago. I hadn't been in a few years, Some things had changed, but some were exactly the way I remember them. If you've never heard of it , it's a huge flea market that's been going on since the 1850's. It's over 100 acres. I bought a few little things, some which I'll share later. I found this cool piece of molding and these rusty hooks.
I needed a little hat rack by our front door. Front door is to the left. The double door goes into the office. The carved piece above the door was from a garage sale headboard piece that I painted. I added the antique milkglass doorknobs and escutcheons when we moved here.
So I just put the hooks on the molding and made my own hatrack.

We've been busy, doing outside projects. I stained our fence. I'm not sure what possessed me to do this, but it took alot longer then I thought it would. I felt like Tom Sawyer, but ended up doing it by myself. We added the birdhouse trio.
Everything is blooming already. The photinia wall next to our pergola is beautiful covered in lacy white flowers.
I have been planting our pots and annuals.
I have sweet potato vine growing with the gerbera daisies. Hope they do well in our hot Texas summer..
This was Bowie the other day. He's saying"Who me?"
" I haven't torn up any paper napkins, nope it wasn't me."
Just had to share. Hope you have a wonderful week.
Leslie

  1. Sweet little hat rack you created, Leslie! And staining a fence is a LOT of work. Ours should be done again this year.....we'll see. The little birdhouses are sure to attract some winged friends! Your flowers are already looking gorgeous and I can't wait until growing season travels north!

Now who could resist that adorable doggie face?!

  2. Ha ha! Little Bowie is just adorable. I'm sure there is a good explanation why he has that shredded up napkin on his cute little fuzzy face! ;) Love your little coat rack and adore the headboard over your front door - looks like it was meant to be there and those door knobs! It's certainly beautiful at your house. We're still dead, no blooms. But it will come. Thanks for popping in to see me.
    be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  4. Your hat rack turned out so cute, Leslie, and your office doors look beautiful. Staining your fence must've been a hard job, but your pot of flowers must cheer you when you look at it! I planted some petunias in pots and something is eating them.

  5. Hi Leslie, I am still on a break but wanted to stop in and say hello. Love your new wall hat rack. So charming there by your pretty doors. Love the topper overhead too. Your flowers and fence look gorgeous. I know the springtime grooming, fence staining and all the planting in the garden is a lot of work.
You have been so busy. Your little Bowie is adorable.
Have a wonderful week and stay dry tomorrow. Predicted to be an icky day!!

  6. hahhaa....little Bowie is so cute....:)
I hope to plant some sweet potato vines this summer..think I'll start out with a large pot of it and see how it does. I grew some in a window box a few yrs back and it did very well, as long as it was in shade and LOTS of water. Hope yours does good. xo

Your pergola is so pretty. Is that new? Love the hat rack and the birdhouses. We went to Canton Friday in the rain and coolness. Not the best day but it was still fun. :)
