Back to School

Well it's back to school around here. We are leaving this week to take our son to college. We are making it a mini vacation on the way home to see some sights and do some geneology. Here is my Back to School Tablescape. I'm joining It's a Very Cherry World and Between Naps on the Porch. Please check out other reds and wonderful tablescapes.

I found the little school house for sale at an antique mall. The bell and apple bell are from the thrift store.
I made the little chalkboard names on the computer. They are held in place by the brass apple bells-also from the thrift store.
Here's my bakelite again.
The apple plates are from JoAnns. Wood salad plates, green dinner plates and wicker charger-thrift store. I even found the amber glasses at Goodwill.
I'll be gone for a while. I'll miss you-but will have lots to post when I get back. I'm getting together a give-away-so come on back to check it out. Now I'll get my Baby off to school in the big city of Chicago! Bye for now.
Leslie

  2. Hi Leslie, I'm sure all will go well with your son...but I certainly know what you are going through. This time 3 years ago I was putting my son on a plane in Seoul, Korea where we lived, to send him to the University of Kentucky. It was so hard. Now we are only a 7 hour drive from him...so much better!
I hope that y'all have a safe and fun trip!
    Fondly,

  4. Love this! I'm a teacher and I love to decorate for the start of school. I just need for my dear Worker Bee to get them down out of the garage. Trust me, this is definitely a job for him, not me. :)

  12. Oh my goodness, this tablescape is adorable. I absolutely love it. You've inspired me. I just want a little more energy to go and search such great deals.

Thanks for commenting on the red doors. Is this your son's first time off to college? We drove ours from Florida to Massachusetts during his freshman year in 2008. He's back home now studying at a local college but nonetheless our babies must all grow up and fly the nest. From one mama bird to another, I'll keep you all in my prayers. Safe trip and happy Rednesday!

  25. The table looks great. I've clipped recipes for crayon shaped cookies and a school bus cake to do something similar. Maybe someday when it slows down. Have fun on your trip. We did a little geneology digging on our last trip too, guess we're starting a trend. My mom is obsessed with Ancestry.com. I'm adding you to my favorites. See you soon!

  31. What a fun theme for a meal for back to school!
We have a big school bell like yours, it came from hubbys Grandmas house, she used it to call in her kids & when she was older to call for help to the adults that would be out in the barn.
Have a great weekend! Faythe @GrammyMsTails
