Pretty Things

This is an embroidery I finished awhile back. Here's how it looked about a year ago. I was working on it when my Dad was sick last year.I was inspired by Charlotte Lyons embroideries. I just sketched a picture with a washable marking pen and went to town. It has been finished for awhile, but I just did the fabric frame. Not sure what I'll do with it now. Maybe a pillow.
I also went and picked some roses outside. We have only 2 bushes, but they are really pretty right now.
They make me happy! Happy Monday!
Leslie

  1. Your embroidery is truly beautiful. I've been taking in all your special details. Your roses are pretty lovely too. I can't wait to see more blooms wake up in our yard. I'm ready for more color.

    Happy Monday.

  7. You created that design yourself?! WOW! You're lucky, because you will always be able to make your own patterns.
LOVE those roses. I have a few rosebushes, but I never think to cut a few and bring them inside. You've inspired me!

  8. Leslie,
Oh my gosh I love your roses, and even more I love your stitchery. I can't believe you made it up yourself. What a wonderful way of remembering that certain time in your life too. I love to do handwork and hope to someday get more things finished! Thanks so much for visiting and leaving the very nice comment. I am your newest follower. It's so nice to meet you!

  9. Hi Leslie!

OH! I got to take a class from and meet Charlotte in January, so much fun. You really captured her whimsical style and your embroidery is so darling.

I wanted to ask you ... you said you had bought the ancestry software - have you used it yet? Are you enjoying it? I'm wondering what I'm going to do with all my info and should probably do the same.

    Happy week to you!

    1. Hi Leslie, me again ;) I answered your comment on my blog and then I thought maybe you might not return so I'd better come over and say howdy and thank you!

Oh and I ran into an interesting (er, frustrating!) wrinkle yesterday on ancestry.com - one of my ancestors published a family genealogy in 1932 - well, I am now finding that some of his dates and names do not match up with data I previously found there. ARGH! Now I have to put my sleuthing cap on and go over everything again. :(

Hope your research trail is more straight forward!

      Happy Wednesday!

  10. You embroidery is beautiful! Have you ever tried Brazilian embroidery? I learned it years ago and also love the look. Sometimes you will see rolled roses on baby dresses from years ago... You would be good at it....Just a thought. Glad I found your blog, you are very talented and have a wonderful decorating eye...
