Where Bloggers Create 2012

Welcome to my craftroom. I love vintage style and have decorated my space in bright colors of blue, red, pink and green. We downsized a year ago and I had to condense my space and I also have to share it with a guest bed.I love to scrapbook, embroider and sew using recycled wool and vintage linens. Let's check it out.I have 2 work areas-papercrafting and a sewing station. There's a Craig's List desk that I painted and an office chair that's been covered. I can reach everything from here for papercrafting.
I can grab a set of pens and put it on the desk to color or draw.I can see all my scissors at one glance.
Little embellishments are in my top drawer.
Here's some little mice I made out of recycled wool that sit on my thrifted clock.
This is my sewing station. I made the sewing machine cover out of a vintage linen.
Instead of an inspiration board, I have an Inspiration Shelf filled with little things I love.
These doll clothes were my dollies when I was a kid. I just framed them up.
More colorful inspiration.

This closet is half the size of my old one. So I've had to weed out and organize my stuff. I use alot of drawers and clear bins. On the right wall my threads and rulers and embroidery hoops are hanging.
My fat quarters all lined up and ready to use.
Ribbons, game pieces and blocks for shadow boxes.

My miniatures for small clothespin dolls that I make in an Ikea drawer.
My recycled wool stash-there's probably 15 of these bins, so I keep track of whats inside by the little color cards.
My favorite new thing. A door organizer from The Container Store. I have so much stuff in here! I love it so much, I put one in my pantry too.I keep my glitter, ribbons and paints in it.
You can see how I store my ribbons-I can pull them straight out and clip, or pull the whole ribbon spool out to measure and cut.
The little wire baskets are easy to take off and carry over to my desk.
Jars of buttons on the window sill are sorted by colors.
This is my storage cabinet. Underneath I keep more paper crafting stuff.
The Singer Featherweight was my Mom's and what I learned to sew on when I was a kid.
The painting is of me, dressed as a hobo for Halloween painted by my Grandfather.
My little corner where I can sit and do hand work or read a decorating book.
A small shelf above the window for more vintage goodies.
The Pinafore Pretties are my newest adventure. So there you have it. My space is colorful and fun and I love creating new things in here. Thank you for visiting and come back any time! I loved having you.
Have fun visiting all the beautiful craftrooms and studios and link on to Where Bloggers Create.
Have fun!
Leslie

  11. Love your room. I have that same doll with those clothes. My mother sent in boxtops for my doll. Did your mom do the same? My younger sister was born after my sister and I got the dolls. She recently found One of the dolls at a yardsale. It was dressed in the blue dress but didn't have any of the other clothes. Is it ok if I send her the photo?

You have inspired me. I will be working to organize my studio when I return from a trip to Kentucky. I'm going to the Antique Roadshow in Ohio. So excited.

  20. Hi Leslie!
Oh! I'm so glad I peeked in, I'm so out of sync with the blog world that I didn't know it was time again for Where Bloggers Create. sheesh.
Good gosh, you have been eating your Vitameatavegamin teehee! Not only are you a dynamo on the crafty production line, you've also got the most organized, adorable craft room. So great!
How wonderful to have a painting of yourself, done by your grandfather, I let out an audible "ohhhhhhhh" seeing that. So precious. Do you have any others by him?
Adore your doll clothes, what a darling idea to frame them - I found a dress or two but they were in such bad bad sad shape.
And now I need to see if I can get one of those Container Store shelf thingies - love love love CS! - that would free up so many drawers (for more crafty stuff bwahahahhahahha). You've got me all inspired.
So great to hear you're getting to hang out with your son and have lunch, hope it was yummy - course I know the company was the best!
I may be losing my mind ... but I think we may have reached a turning point yesterday in the battle of Sally vs The Boxes! I think I've been through nearly all of them now??? That means I can finish them and let them sit for a bit (or longer!) and gain strength to organize what I'm keeping. wahoo!
Happy happy weekend and much fun crafting in your darling room,
    Sally

Love your sewing machine cover; it adds interest to your room while protecting your machine. That closet is organized wonderfully! I have become a big fan of those clear plastic drawers in my own space. I did label mine, but I still like the clear plastic so I can see fairly easily what's in them. I also love how you framed your doll's old clothes. What a great idea and especially for over your sewing area. Thanks so much for the tour!
