More Easter

Here are the rest of my Easter decor pic's. The giant vintage Mrs. Chick came from a garage sale years ago from a teacher. I got a bunch of bulletin board stuff. The little felt chick baby shoes are from Old Navy via the thrift store.
I love the pink Happy Easter Daddy card. It's one of my faves.
I'm a little late to the Easter party, but at least I made it this year.
Love your comments and I love checking out you guys in Blogland. So many creative people out there. Have a wonderful weekend!

Easter Parade

I finally got out the Easter stuff. I didn't get to decorate last year, cuz of the move. These bunnies and egg were made by my Aunt Ruth. If you've followed this blog-you know she loved to put long eyelashes on any animal she painted. Check out the lashes! I love how the bunnies go with the thrifted tablecloth.
I did a mini end- tablescape using orange, yellow and pink. I have more fun going into my vintage linen stash and pulling out stuff to use. The felt Mrs. Bunny and Mr. Mouse were bought at a shop in Arkansas, I could not pass them up!
I still need to find one more fire king cup and saucer that has a different pattern. Love the way they stack-the colors are so springy.

Had to show you my pillows from a few years ago. I love working in 1 color-no thinking.
I have more to share-I'll add them hopefully by the end of the week. At least I made it before Easter! Have a good week.

Butterflies are Free(almost)

I am joining the chip art party. I've seen so many cute things out there and was inspired by Cozy, Cottage, Cute. I had all the green paint chips from when I was choosing a color for my bedroom and bathroom.I had the MS butterfly punch and went to town. It's really fun to do this. I added 2 scrapbook paper butterflies, just to add interest. The only thing I bought was a frame at Michaels(40% off) of course.
I drew out a grid to fit the frame and used pop dots to add a little depth and stuck em on.
Easy Peasy , inexpensive and really fun to do. Now I just have to hang it up.

The weather here in Texas has finally cleared up and it look like it's going to be a beautiful weekend. We have been trying to add some bushes and flowers in the new yard. Looks like we'll be digging some holes. Hope your weekend turns out pretty!

Red Roman Shade

Today for Rednesday,I'm showing you the before of my kitchen door. This was here when we moved in. I didn't like not being able to see out the door. In fact it was driving me crazy. I decided to make a roman shade.I went to You Tube and found some really great directions. I used fabric that I had. Here it is on the floor waiting for the glue to dry on the little dowel rods. I have it weighted down with ME Home Companions. After turning inside out and stringing it, here it is.
I'm sorry about the dark pic-it's so hard to take towards a window. I'm really happy with it. It is complete privacy when it's down-and best of all I can now see out the door!! Here's another view of my new little breakfast nook. Added the red window toppers and the new light over the table. You can barely see the window seat behind the table. It's coming along.
Hope you all have a great Rednesday! Go here to see more.

A Little Green

Happy St. Patricks Day! I'll be making corned beef and cabbage on Saturday. What about you? This is my little shelf that's now in my Master Bedroom. I've painted the walls a light green, We are still working on the room-so I won't show it yet. Also painted the master bath a slightly lighter green.
This was my mom's. It goes perfect with our bedroom colors. Do you think it's weird to have a piece like this in a bedroom? I think it works just fine.
Here's my little vignette. It's really hard to see the paint color. I'll show some better pic's later. Anyway-hope you all have a Happy St. Pat's Day!

Desk Re-do

I thought I'd share a furniture re-do with you today. I needed a desk for my craftroom that had drawers for storage(I really needed the drawers) and so I found this on Craigs List. The desk had good lines and was sturdy and had drawers. I used Annie Sloanes Chalk Paint in white.
After I painted I sanded and than used the clear wax to finish it.
I had to do 3 coats, because of the orange undertones of the wood. I was very pleased with the outcome. I had to replace the middle drawer pull, from my vintage stash. I think it looks okay.
Here it is in my new craft room. If you have been following my blog for awhile, you'll notice that my new room looks alot like my old craftroom. I wanted to keep my stuff, so I painted it a similar blue, and added my reds, pinks , greens and a touch of yellow. I'll be showing more soon.
Oops, I forgot to put the chair back. Anyway, it works great, and has lots of drawers!!!!
Weather is beautiful here in Texas after a really rainy weekend. Hope your weather is getting springlike! Have a good one!

Starting Again

Come on in! It's been a really long time.

To summarize the past 8 months-we moved from old house into apartment-we moved from apartment into new house. My Dad passed away in the midst of this. We've been back and forth to my Dad's, to Chicago and all around chaos. I think I'm finally getting organized enough to start again.
I've been unpacking, organizing, painting, sewing, more painting and constructing since we've been in the new house. Above is one little project that I did. Bought the vintage escutcheons on Etsy and then the porcelain door knobs. Added them to our new his and hers office. I think they came out rather nice!

Above is a sneak peak. I can't wait to share more with you. Projects I've been working on, projects I hope to finish and new ones I haven't even started on yet. I have been keeping up with your blogs, just haven't been commenting-I felt like there wasn't enough time. But now I'm getting things under control. I hope to blog at least once a week. So here we go. I really missed you guys!!
