Christmas Home Part 2

I added a little more plaid this year to carry on the outdoor theme. Pillows were made by me years ago.

I added my vintage sheet music framed up over the piano.

I went super simple in the dining room. Just some red candles and few ornaments. I changed out the orange wine cart to red in the winter.
More of my salt shaker snowmen, made from orphan salt shakers. Candlesticks were made from the cut off legs of our coffee table.
A few red touches.

I feature these special vintage blue ornaments in the bathroom.
A little touch to our bedroom, I'll be showing the finished bedroom after the holidays. We are going to be working on the flooring after Christmas.
If you missed the rest of my tour here's a link to part1. I am starting my baking this week. Hope to get everything done. Son made it home from Montreal so we are happy campers here! Hope you have a great week!

Christmas Tour 2016 at Brookhollow Lane

Welcome to Brookhollow Lane! Come on in.
If this is your first visit to Brookhollow Lane, my style is cottage, vintage with a little farmhouse thrown in. I love adding thrifted vintage stuff to my house. I love adding little touches here and there to turn my house into a cozy home.
I kept the decorations pretty minimal this year. The house is smallish and I didn't want it to feel cluttered, especially when my boys come home and are hanging out.
Home is where you hang your hat. I made this little hat hanger from old hooks and piece of scrap wood.
Entryway primitive cabinet.
Look closely at the letter to Santa.

My Mom's red cardinal always comes out at Christmas time.

Come on in to the family room and make yourself comfortable. I change out my fall colors for red and white in the winter. The tree is pretty naked, because we wait for our boys to come home to decorate it.
My salt shaker snowmen and glittered candles in an old tool box tray.

These candles are so easy to make and are so pretty when they are lit.
Curtains panels are made from Ikea fabric. Just hemmed with straight stitch.
 The stockings are hung.
The tree at night.
My favorite Christmas movie is It's a Wonderful Life, so I painted this sign on a scrap from an old oak headboard.
A piece of vintage wrapping paper put in a frame behind my old pick up truck. It was found for a few dollars at an antique store, because it was missing a wheel. I added a wood wheel that I painted black from Hobby Lobby. Perfect for hauling a Christmas tree.
Stitched this pillow a few years ago.

I collect vintage children's Christmas books. The Night Before Christmas was mine when I was a little girl. I read it to my boys each Christmas Eve.
On to the little breakfast area. I switch out my seat covers to red check in December. Four thrifted red and white stockings hang at each chair.
If you've visited before, you know how much fun I have doing up the kitchen hutch.
I found the metal sign this year at an antique store. New, but looks old.
I change out the knobs and pulls to red and jadite green for December.

A view into the kitchen. I just add a few touches of red and a vintage tea towel. Gotta keep it pretty clear, because we do tons of cooking over the holidays when the boys come home. Joyeux Noel was given to me by my Mom when she went to Paris so I hung it on the pantry door in honor of son's first homecoming from Montreal. (Microwave over stove just died-trying to decide on a vent hood).
  Little touches here and there.
I hope you had fun touring my home and maybe got a few ideas. I'll be sharing the rest of my decor next week. Be sure to continue the tour here. Lots of pretty decor and great ideas.

Decking the Halls

We had a really nice Thanksgiving. I hope you did too. Before I get to Christmas I want to share the last of my morning glory before it gets cold. You're probably sick of seeing this, but I am so in love with this. I started in the spring with seeds. I germinated them in a wet paper towel until they sprouted. Planted them against the fence.
It didn't take long to start sending it's tendrils around the trellis.
First flower.

Notice how far the morning glory is from the lady bug on the fence.
It has pretty much spread out and covered the lady bug. It's still blooming-purple, pink and white flowers. I'll miss this so much in the winter, but plan on planting a few more in the spring.

I've been Christmas decorating. Here's a sneak peak.
I am participating in the Cozy at Christmas Holiday Blog Tour and will show my house on Tuesday. I hope you come back and also check out the other bloggers homes and wonderful Christmas ideas. It runs Dec. 5, 6, and 7.
When son was home for Thanksgiving he made a pie crust to use in an ad(he's a graphic designer. He cut this out with an exacto knife. and baked it on parchment paper. It was the top of a pie to be used for pie day. I thought it came out so pretty. So delicate.
See you next Tuesday. Lots going on here at Brookhollow Lane. Have a great week!

Happy Thanksgiving

Just a quick post before the holiday this week. Progress on the dust ruffle-it's finished. I probably would not make this again. SO much fabric made it really hard to work with. I am happy with the finished ruffle, but buying it would have been so much easier. We ended up buying the headboard. I'll show more on this later.
Working away at my embroidered ornament, Gotta finish soon.
SALE in my Etsy shop starting on Monday, Nov. 21 through Nov.28. Everything will be 15% off. Just use the code "Merry" at checkout.
Getting ready to start Christmas decorating next week. I'm very thankful for you, my blogging friends and hope you have a happy and safe Thanksgiving!

Fall Days

I've been busy. Busy doing lots of this...
and this. Son is coming home this week for Thanksgiving. So excited!
Also this-I draw the pattern on fabric ...
and start backstitching. I'll add some color after the stitching is done. This will be a Christmas ornament for other son. Teeny tiny stitches.
I've also begun another project to use some of these pretty vintage tea towels. I'll show more as I progress. Some crochet is in order.
I couldn't pass this up on Craig's list. I'll be doing some painting soon. It kinda matches the one I already have. These will be our night stands.
I'll leave you with a pretty picture. The light was coming through the blinds. There is Bowie in his "spot"-he lays on the back top of the couch and looks out the window while he sunbathes. Notice the doggie picture and the little white Scottie. Even the wood carving on the wood furniture reminds me of a dog.
Bowie says "Have a good week"!
By the way, our weather has been fantastic. Love the fall!
