DC in the Spring

Hi You all! We've been  on a little trip. We visited mydear SIL and visited all the sites.
The cherry blossoms were gorgeous!
Everything is like a postcard.
We saw many historic places.
We saw some beautiful gardens.
This is a little collage of some of the fantastic places we saw.
Here's some of the wonderful flowers that were in bloom everywhere.
This was my little souvenir. I'll probably make it into a Christmas ornament.
Just trying to get back in the swing of things around here. The weather is perfect. Please stay like this and not get any warmer!!  I can't wait to check up on all of you out there in Blogland.

Garden Corner

I went antiquing last week and found these cute cards. Some of you crafters may be able to use these.

I love this one because it folds back and you have his front side and back side. Could make a cute paper doll.
Here is the before of our little garden corner. We, mostly Hubby, dug out the grass and the clay soil. What a job.
Last weekend we spent outside. We added good dirt and fixed our sprinkler system and started to plant the corner. We are not gardeners, but I'm trying my hand. I want to get a few more things to put in the corner. I'll share it's progress.
This is the opposite corner. We did this one last spring and you can see how much everything grew in just 1 year. The vine is wisteria and loses it's leaves in the winter, but it's starting to grow again. The Knock out roses are in full bloom and so easy to grow. Lambs Ears kind of went crazy. It's fun to see what happens to all the plants in a year.
I know some of you are still in midst of yucky weather. I hope it clears up soon. We are off for a short vacation. See you next week!

Trim it Up!

I'm still organizing and cleaning. I have used this crate in my craft room for lots of things. I decided to redo it to hold all of my trims.
I measured and cut little wood slats and hot glued them to the sides. That way I can always change my mind.
I used cereal box cardboard to wind the trims. Some of them have the original cardboard.
I organized them by color, and kept the fancy trims separate.Trims and rick rack are so pretty to look at!
Now I can see them all at one glance and pull the ones I need. I had to redo them, because I've gotten alot of trims from my Aunt and couldn't fit them in my box any more. It's like a little library shelf full of trims.
Here's my finished embroidery. I decided to to frame it in a hoop.

Embroidery pattern purchased from this wonderful website.Sarah Jane has the cutest projects and fabric.
Now this little corner is done.

I can check that off my list. We're holding off on the garden corner until next weekend. We're supposed to get some big storms over the next day or two. Hope you are having some nice spring weather. Enjoy!

A Little of This and That

We had a really nice Easter weekend. I hope you did too. I've been doing little things around here. These Iris's were from son on Easter.
I've been working on a cute embroidery. I'll share soon-it's almost finished.
We've been planning a garden corner. Hubs dug out the grass this weekend.
Thrift shop footstool -before-
And after. I used recycled wool for the cover. It will go in the office.
I used homemade chalkpaint, sanded it a little and waxed it.Staple new fabric and done.I love that you can stash things in it.
I've been admiring our flowers that have bloomed. Spring is here!!!
I'm trying to finish spring cleaning-well at least start it. Definitely have spring fever around here. Hope you all have a great week!
