Christmas Home Part 2

 I added a little more plaid this year to carry on the outdoor theme. Pillows were made by me years ago.

I added my vintage sheet music framed up over the piano.

I went super simple in the dining room. Just some red candles and few ornaments. I changed out the orange wine cart to red in the winter.

 More of my salt shaker snowmen, made from orphan salt shakers. Candlesticks were made from the cut off legs of our coffee table.

A few red touches.

I feature these special vintage blue ornaments in the bathroom.

 A little touch to our bedroom, I'll be showing the finished bedroom after the holidays. We are going to be working on the flooring after Christmas.

Fall Days

I've been busy. Busy doing lots of this...

 and this. Son is coming home this week for Thanksgiving. So excited!

 Also this-I draw the pattern on fabric ...

 and start backstitching. I'll add some color after the stitching is done. This will be a Christmas ornament for other son. Teeny tiny stitches.

 I've also begun another project to use some of these pretty vintage tea towels. I'll show more as I progress. Some crochet is in order.

 I couldn't pass this up on Craig's list. I'll be doing some painting soon. It kinda matches the one I already have. These will be our night stands.

 I'll leave you with a pretty picture. The light was coming through the blinds. There is Bowie in his "spot"-he lays on the back top of the couch and looks out the window while he sunbathes. Notice the doggie picture and the little white Scottie. Even the wood carving on the wood furniture reminds me of a dog.

 Bowie says "Have a good week"!

By the way, our weather has been fantastic. Love the fall!

Finished Ornaments and Merry Christmas

Just a short post before Christmas. Here's the finished ornaments for the boys. I really hope they like them. 

 Getting ready for the boys to be here all week. I can't wait! I think everything's done-at least that's all I'm gonna do. Now I can sit back and enjoy the holiday and kids being home.

Christmas Table and Homemade Ornaments

Thought I'd pop in and share a few photos from last Christmas. These were some of my Mom's ornaments and they are very precious to me.

 I did this simple tablescape for Christmas dinner. The letter ornies on each plate were made by me. I got the idea from Target last year. Everybody loved them.

 The tablecloth is fabric from Ikea last year. I also used it to make curtain panels.The candles you see all over Pinterest. Old sheet music on a dollar store candle. Add glitter and your good to go.

 Here's the progress on the boys Christmas ornaments for this year. I showed you the Seattle skyline in the works. It's all sewed-no I have to turn it into an ornament. The sackbut, don't laugh, is an early trombone. Youngest son is a trombone performance major and has played this instrument this year. I try to do some event, or something special from the last year. Also have to turn this into an ornament. I'll show you when I'm finished with them both.

Christmas Ornament

I've been busy working on a few projects. One project I do every year is to create a special Christmas ornament for each son. I try to do something that happened during the previous year. This is one in the works.

Sometimes I embroider, Other times I use paper. For this Seattle ornie I'm doing a felt collage.

I have cut out all the little buildings in the skyline. I will hand sew them on the background and then decide how to turn it into an ornament.

I'll share more as I work on it. I'm also making a new corner desk for my craftroom. Hopefully  by next week I can show you my progress. I'm still having camera issues, but thought I'd check in.

Homemade Ornaments

I've made a few ornaments over the years.  We just got our tree up, so I thought I'd share some of them with you.

Some are from kits. I can't believe I stitched this entire ornament! 

Some we all sat down and made together. This is my favorite bread dough ornie.

 The all time favorites are the ones that I give each year to my boys. Sometimes I buy them, but they really look forward to the homemade ones. When my son went into Northwestern I did this little guy. See his little Ipod. He also has a backpack on.

This is his art work that I copied. and stitched.

I try to remember something important that happened during the year.This was a poster drawn by son number 1. Love that birdcage.

This one is my other sons CD cover back and front that he designed. I copied his artwork.

Number 2 son is a pie maker so this will be his this year. It's in a little metal pie tin.I always put the year on each one.

This tradition has become rally important to the boys. They like to put their own ornies up on the tree.
  I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving. We sure did-ate too much though. I've been decorating for Christmas this weekend and will start showing my decor. I found these 2 scrappy quilt tops at an estate sale last weekend. Not sure what I'll be doing with them yet. Aren't they happy looking?

I have a Santas workshop going in my craftroom. Making recipe scrapbooks and ornaments.I hope you have a fun and creative week.
