Ordinary Days

Not a whole lot going on at Brookhollow Lane this week. I found this cool gate when we were in Waxahachie awhile back. I had been looking for one. This one has a tag from the county where I live, so it had to come home with me.
Not sure what I'll put in front of it yet, but I like it leaning on the fence.
The crepe myrtles are blooming. This one is the prettiest shade of purple.

This one is a lilac color. The hot pinks in my yard haven't gotten into full bloom yet.
Here's a little collage of some of the flowers and trees in Seattle.
It's hard to act normal and cheerful, when such bad stuff is happening in the world. I'm thinking about you, Orlando. Something has got to change!

  1. I like the gate, and how cool that it has 'your' county on it. I have one that has become a trellis for sweet peas. Not on purpose, though, they just took over!

  2. What a pretty gate that you found, Leslie, and your crepe myrtles look lovely in bloom.
We must keep homes as safe havens with all the craziness in the world. Take care, Leslie, and stay cool in this Texas heat.

  3. OOO, I love your gate...so cute...and I love your pergola...I wish I had something planted close to mine but it's on concrete so no where to plant...boo hoo...maybe I can hang some pots of ivy or something from the pergola...and I agree...if things don't change, we are losing our country. and I can PROMISE HC won't change anything if she gets president...scary thought

  6. Hi Leslie! Oh, that olden gate looks wonderful! I could see a pretty flowering vine growing all over it! Your crepes are so pretty. I just love them. I haven't seen any around here. I don't know if they would survive the harsh winters. Oh, my daughter and her hubby used to live in Bellvue, right across the big bridge from Seattle. What a beautiful area and I hope you're enjoying your visit. We had dinner one night at the top of the Seattle needle! Thanks for popping in to see me.
    be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

    1. Shelia, great idea to do a flowering vine on the gate. I think crepes only grow in the south. We saw Bellvue-it was wonderful. Lucky you to eat at the top of the space needle! Thanks for coming by!

I fully agree that something in the world needs to change. Kindness is getting lost it seems.

  8. Your garden gate is perfect. All your plantings look so healthy. I agree about the depressing state of affairs right now. I guess that's why I enjoy escaping to blogland where it continues to be a "happy creative" place! Hugs!
