Christmas Tour 2016 at Brookhollow Lane

Welcome to Brookhollow Lane! Come on in.
If this is your first visit to Brookhollow Lane, my style is cottage, vintage with a little farmhouse thrown in. I love adding thrifted vintage stuff to my house. I love adding little touches here and there to turn my house into a cozy home.
I kept the decorations pretty minimal this year. The house is smallish and I didn't want it to feel cluttered, especially when my boys come home and are hanging out.
Home is where you hang your hat. I made this little hat hanger from old hooks and piece of scrap wood.
Entryway primitive cabinet.
Look closely at the letter to Santa.

My Mom's red cardinal always comes out at Christmas time.

Come on in to the family room and make yourself comfortable. I change out my fall colors for red and white in the winter. The tree is pretty naked, because we wait for our boys to come home to decorate it.
My salt shaker snowmen and glittered candles in an old tool box tray.

These candles are so easy to make and are so pretty when they are lit.
Curtains panels are made from Ikea fabric. Just hemmed with straight stitch.
 The stockings are hung.
The tree at night.
My favorite Christmas movie is It's a Wonderful Life, so I painted this sign on a scrap from an old oak headboard.
A piece of vintage wrapping paper put in a frame behind my old pick up truck. It was found for a few dollars at an antique store, because it was missing a wheel. I added a wood wheel that I painted black from Hobby Lobby. Perfect for hauling a Christmas tree.
Stitched this pillow a few years ago.

I collect vintage children's Christmas books. The Night Before Christmas was mine when I was a little girl. I read it to my boys each Christmas Eve.
On to the little breakfast area. I switch out my seat covers to red check in December. Four thrifted red and white stockings hang at each chair.
If you've visited before, you know how much fun I have doing up the kitchen hutch.
I found the metal sign this year at an antique store. New, but looks old.
I change out the knobs and pulls to red and jadite green for December.

A view into the kitchen. I just add a few touches of red and a vintage tea towel. Gotta keep it pretty clear, because we do tons of cooking over the holidays when the boys come home. Joyeux Noel was given to me by my Mom when she went to Paris so I hung it on the pantry door in honor of son's first homecoming from Montreal. (Microwave over stove just died-trying to decide on a vent hood).
  Little touches here and there.
I hope you had fun touring my home and maybe got a few ideas. I'll be sharing the rest of my decor next week. Be sure to continue the tour here. Lots of pretty decor and great ideas.

  1. Very pretty home and so festive the stockings on the chair is a nice touch and those cups at the end made me smile. My grandma had a set of the egg nog cups and I remember every Christmas we got to use them after dinner on Friday nights. Love that truck too I'm going to start hunting for one of those so classic but I think a hunter green one would be neat.

  3. Hi Leslie, Love your home for Christmas. The tour drew me in right from the front door. I love that little bench with the throw and vintage cooler. Just charming. Inside I love your family room and now cozy and comfy it looks with the red and white. Great coffee table piece with your signature shaker snowmen. Too cute. You know I adore your hutch with the jadeite and red. Like the idea of adding the stockings to each chair at your table. Your kitchen is so pretty and I love the hanging from Paris your mom gave you. Oh that little truck is adorable and you gave it a great fix adding the wheel. All your collected piece make your home so special this time of year. You even added beautiful long curtains in red and white and I love those. Lovely home tour and I look forward to seeing what you share next. Have fun today visiting.

  4. First of all, your porch area is so welcoming, Leslie! I love the old shutter, with the skates hanging, and the plaid touches, and that cute wooden snowman. Your home just exudes warmth and coziness with all your vintage touches, and of course, red and white is my favorite. Your hutch that changes with the seasons, is one of my favorite pieces, and I can't forget that tool tray with the snowman salt shaker and those pretty glittered candles. Your sons will certainly feel loved when they come home for Christmas. ❤️

  5. Oh Leslie what joy your tour has brought to me this morning. You are definitely speaking my tartan and vintage Christmas decor love language. I adore your grouping of fantastic mugs and plates in your hutch. But the thing I love best is that you wait to decorate your tree with your boys. This truly warms my heart.

  19. Leslie,
I love that you wait until your sons are home to decorate the family tree. All your other decorations look like you are ready to relax and enjoy the season with your sons. I would never have thought to change out cabinet pulls, but yours add just the right touch of Christmas.

    Merry Christmas,

  28. Do not be afraid to smile at yourself, your friends, and even strangers. Answer your phone and speak with a smile on your face; the person on the other end of the line will be able to detect it in your voice, making it easier for you to interact freely and respectfully of one another. The power of a smile should not be underestimated; practice it often! satta king
