Kitchen is Done(Almost)

Monday mornings-I just love them. For some reason I always feel like getting organized on Mondays-paperwork, housework all that good stuff. Above is the after pic of my kitchen table area. I'm thinking of painting the table white(maybe with some red accents on the legs) and we need to get new chairs. These are antiques that aren't holding up to heavy use. I'd love to find some and paint them red. What do you think?
Here are some different views of the kitchen. We had the granite put in, I had already painted the cabinets white. We never had a backsplash, so we tiled it with white subway tiles.
Here's my little desk nook. Sorry about the glaring sun.Love this area!
Here's the before of the floors-Remember we had 6 different floors on our first floor. We now have 3-the new ceramic tile and wood in our living room and laminate in our family room. Much calmer.
Here's the same view-after.
Here work in progress-I was really glad to get rid of the tile counter tops. I don't miss them a bit.
Love the granite-even though I didn't think I would.
This rooster was made by my Aunt Ruth- every animal that she made (and she made tons of ceramics) have eyelashes! Little red toy stove was found in an antique store, on sale. This is in my window over the sink.
What we hired out-granite counters
tile floor install
What we did-painted the cabinets white
ripped out old floor and backsplash
tiled backsplash
painted walls
A few more little things to do, but hey that never ends. I was able to keep my vintage things witch I love, but kind of modernize the overall look.
Thanks for all your positive thougthts about BJ's wisdom teeth. He's coming along just great and will be tooting away on hist trombone soon!
Happy Monday!

  1. Leslie, how is it that you're living in my dream kitchen?! I just love white kitchens, with splashes of color here and there. The granite looks fabulous, and YES, I say paint that table and add red accents. It's easy for me to tell you to do it, because my family doesn't want me to paint any of the furniture here!
    Happy Monday!

  2. What a great kitchen. We rent but are getting ready to paint ours and have new adhesive "tile" put in, so we're debating colors now. I just got this vintage red and white tablecloth from my MIL and suddenly, this is what I want - white with red accents. Loved seeing yours!

  3. Leslie!! The kitchen turned out fantastic! I love what all you did with the granite countertops, that is what I want one day and the floor tile looks so nice! I also just love the pops of red throughout and that rooster, too cute!! Have a great day and thanks for sharing!!

  4. a big job I am sure... But the fruits of your labor is certainly gorgeous. Love how you are putting it all together, Mica

  5. Hi Leslie!
Your kitchen is just gorgeous, you must be so thrilled. (my puny kitchen is about the size of your cabinet island alone!!! WAH! SOB!) I love your cabinets with glass doors, I've always wanted some. & my hearts desire has always been a window seat. Yours is charming and I love the idea of painting your table white and the chairs red.
Happy bright and shiny beautiful kitchen!

  6. I love your kitchen!! I've been slowing painting my kitchen cabinets white. You have my dream kitchen is not wide enough to have one. I think that painting your table white and the chairs red would look wonderful.

  7. I adore your kitchen and the vintage bread bin. The rooster is quite regal looking. Your counters and floors came out looking grand.
A nice easy flow kitchen floor plan well done.

thanks for the lovely comments on my blog today.

  8. I am loving your new kitchen!! I'm starting on mine tomorrow, and as much as I dislike painting, I'm excited!
