Bathroom Mini Redo

Hi. It's time to share my bathroom mini redo. The reason this all started (and you all know about that old domino effect) was the bathtub needed to be professionally refinished. When we moved into our house the previous owner must have used some wrong cleaner that stripped off the shiny finish. So it looked bad-really bad. But before we did that I decided an electrician was in order. I wanted a new can light over the dreary tub (no windows) and the one bathroom light over the mirror split into 2. We've never hired an electrician before and I absolutely loved ours. Of course after electrical we need to patch and texture sheetrock holes in the ceiling and wall. Then a  new paint job. I would have loved to replace the counter on the vanity-but this was a Mini Redo!  So finally the refinish on the tub-it looks brand new. Here's the before. I would be too embarrassed to show that old tub. I took down the wall paper border and mirror,
The after. So hard to photograph  a small bathroom.New mirrors are from Ikea. New vanity light from Lowes.
Light blue paint on the walls. Remember-no window so I had to lighten it up.
A touch of vintage. Strombecker dollhouse furniture from Etsy. I made a little shadow box using vintage images and scrapbook paper.

Little box, painted with white chalkboard paint. This is our second bathroom-also for guests.
I had this in the old bathroom-
White spray paint and now you see the colors of the shells.Just hot glue them on.
Here's the bathtub side. New shower curtain-Target.

I found this old medicine cabinet at a garage sale.
Used AS chalk paint.
Added some scrapbook paper.  Love that old hardware and knob. Even the glass shelf was there.
Copied a picture from an old book. The towel hooks are from Home Depot-I screwed them onto an old piece of headboard.
There it is. Probably one of my longest posts. Thanks for sticking it out.The goal was to lighten and brighten the bathroom. It feels bigger and more modern.
It's starting to get really hot here. But that's usual for us in Texas!  Hope you all have a wonderful week.

I'm back!

It's been so long, I almost forgot how to upload my pictures. Thank you for all your concern. Nothing bad happening-we've just been busy. I have to show you a before and after.
Bowie got his first haircut. He also started doggie day camp. He made 2 new friends-Chloe the chihuahua (about 2  pounds) and Leia the chihuahua mix. Much better after!
I found this suitcase to make into a bed.
It was in great shape on the inside.
I just sewed a flannel pillowcase and added the little banner with his name.I also added metal brackets and screwed them in, so it won't accidentally close on him. He really loves sleeping on this when he's in the family room.
I found these at Michaels and painted them up and just glued them on . Super easy!
We had a good peach crop on our tree this year. I made some peach crumbles.

I have alot to share with you guys. We've had plumbing issues-1 a week for 3 weeks. Got that taken care of.  We also did a mini bathroom redo which I'll share next time. I haven't been crafting at all, but have been working on reorganizing my craft room. And on top of that Bowie had ringworm, which means lots of extra laundry, vet visits and doggie baths, He;s finally over it-Yeah! I can't believe the summer is halfway over. We've got a closet redo in the planning stages-so lots happening here. I have been lurking at your blogs and I'm happy to get back in the swing of things! Bring it on!

Random Monday

Happy Mothers Day to you all. I had a very fun and relaxing day yesterday. Flowers are from son. He also brought chocolate covered strawberries-my fave.
The whole room smells like lilacs. That has to be one of the best smells.
I haven't been thrifting much lately, but got out for a little bit on Saturday. I found these two cuties. I think I'll use them in my craftroom.
I always pick up aluminum stuff. I will add these to my coaster collection.
I've been stitching away on this mini sampler. Almost done.
Mostly I've been taking care of Bo. I thought I'd show you what one week does. The first few days he would just sit and look at the toys. Now he's tearing across the yard with his toy. He loves to play fetch. He's such a happy little guy.
Here he is posing for the camera. We're making some progress on potty training. I forgot how time consuming that was.
Thanks for all your wonderful comments about Bo. He has truly added so much to our family already. Just love that little guy! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

My New Baby

His name is Bowie-Bo for short. He came from a small animal rescue. He's 4 months old.
With one ear up and one ear down, he looks kind of funny.
The lady at the adoption place said he was a yorkie. Now I know yorkies and this guy has yorkie coloring, but has big feet, so he'll be alot bigger then a yorkie. I think he's a yorkie mix. The mix is the mystery.
The first day home, he was so quiet and didn't even know how to play. We're working on that and potty training and crate training and learning to walk on a leash. So much to do!
But with a little face like that, who could resist? That's what I've been doing lately-staying in the gated family room trying to teach this little guy a few things. He's as sweet as can be.
Beautiful weather here. That's good, cuz we've been spending alot of time outside. Hope your week is great!

DC in the Spring

Hi You all! We've been  on a little trip. We visited mydear SIL and visited all the sites.
The cherry blossoms were gorgeous!
Everything is like a postcard.
We saw many historic places.
We saw some beautiful gardens.
This is a little collage of some of the fantastic places we saw.
Here's some of the wonderful flowers that were in bloom everywhere.
This was my little souvenir. I'll probably make it into a Christmas ornament.
Just trying to get back in the swing of things around here. The weather is perfect. Please stay like this and not get any warmer!!  I can't wait to check up on all of you out there in Blogland.

Garden Corner

I went antiquing last week and found these cute cards. Some of you crafters may be able to use these.

I love this one because it folds back and you have his front side and back side. Could make a cute paper doll.
Here is the before of our little garden corner. We, mostly Hubby, dug out the grass and the clay soil. What a job.
Last weekend we spent outside. We added good dirt and fixed our sprinkler system and started to plant the corner. We are not gardeners, but I'm trying my hand. I want to get a few more things to put in the corner. I'll share it's progress.
This is the opposite corner. We did this one last spring and you can see how much everything grew in just 1 year. The vine is wisteria and loses it's leaves in the winter, but it's starting to grow again. The Knock out roses are in full bloom and so easy to grow. Lambs Ears kind of went crazy. It's fun to see what happens to all the plants in a year.
I know some of you are still in midst of yucky weather. I hope it clears up soon. We are off for a short vacation. See you next week!

Trim it Up!

I'm still organizing and cleaning. I have used this crate in my craft room for lots of things. I decided to redo it to hold all of my trims.
I measured and cut little wood slats and hot glued them to the sides. That way I can always change my mind.
I used cereal box cardboard to wind the trims. Some of them have the original cardboard.
I organized them by color, and kept the fancy trims separate.Trims and rick rack are so pretty to look at!
Now I can see them all at one glance and pull the ones I need. I had to redo them, because I've gotten alot of trims from my Aunt and couldn't fit them in my box any more. It's like a little library shelf full of trims.
Here's my finished embroidery. I decided to to frame it in a hoop.

Embroidery pattern purchased from this wonderful website.Sarah Jane has the cutest projects and fabric.
Now this little corner is done.

I can check that off my list. We're holding off on the garden corner until next weekend. We're supposed to get some big storms over the next day or two. Hope you are having some nice spring weather. Enjoy!
