Fall in Love With Texas Fall Tour

Welcome to Brookhollow Lane!
Fall in Love With Texas
Come on in!

I love vintage and like to add something vintage or antique to every room. My colors are usually neutral, so I add in touches of orange for the fall season. I love being able to change out my colors for each season.
I also love to craft, so you'll see some of my creations through the house.
I would say my style is cottage, vintage with a little farmhouse thrown in.
In the dining room, I have the table set for a fall dinner.
Most of my vintage tableware was picked up at thrift stores.

My little bar/wine cart has some orange accents. This is a vintage medical cart on casters.

A dead end hallway where I made a vintage tea towel into a pillow.
Come on in to the family room.
I have an angled fireplace, so I have angled the furniture to match.
I have kept the fall decor to a minimal look. Just touches here and there. Quilts and throws warm up the room for the cooler nights.
Lovely pumpkin made by talented Celestina Marie at Southern Day Dreams.
There is Bowie-he loves to photo bomb my pictures. I love this plaid throw with the brown and orange.
A little wooden puzzle piece to add a dash of orange.
I love using baby pumpkins to decorate! Pretty table runner(shawl) found at Good Will.
A little wool leaf garland that I stitched up.

You can see that the breakfast area opens right into the family room. I keep the color scheme going into the kitchen.
Ready for a cup of coffee?

The kitchen hutch is decked out for fall with mostly thrifted stuff.
More on the kitchen hutch here.

I hope you have enjoyed my little tour. I sure enjoyed having you visit. Please go and check out these Texas bloggers and see how they have decorated their homes.Thank you Katie from Let's Add Sprinkles for putting this tour together.

Hoping for Fall, but Feeling like Summer

Here's a little peak at some of my fall decor. You'll have to come back on Oct.6 to see the full tour. I'll be part of the Fall in Love With Texas Fall Blog Hop.
I added some vintage spice tins in fall colors to my antique scale. Found the vintage thermos at the thrift store and how perfect are those colors for fall?
See the little wool acorns I made? I glued on real acorn tops.

This is what it is like outside today in North Texas. 98 degrees! The sweet potato vine has gone crazy. I can't wait for the temps to drop-I'm thinking soups, chili, plaid blankets, cool nights and pumpkins.
My morning glory has gone over the fence into the neighbors yard and is peaking back through to our side.
I kinda want to plant these all over the place, because it has been so fun watching this grow, and grow, and grow! I will miss it when the weather finally does cool down.
What do you think of when you think fall? I hope you are enjoying the season.

Vintage Fall Pillow

I've had this tea towel for ages. I think it was in a box of linens from my Mom. It was badly stained on the top portion that is off white. The colors and subject remind me of autumn.
So I decided to make it into a little fall pillow.
I cut around the image and framed the image with off white muslin to make it the right size for a pillow form.
Added the vintage rick rack around the edge.
Here it is in it's new home in the hallway under the Hall of Fame. I think it cozies up the little bench and adds a little touch of autumn.
I've been busy decorating and will have lots to show you in the near future. I've also been busy adding stuff to my Etsy shop. It's still in the 90's here, so kind of a struggle to feel like fall. Hope you are enjoying nice weather. See you next week!

Camera Issues and Autumn

After much packing and cleaning we sent son off on Halloween night on a flight to Seattle. He took his black cat on board with him and shipped the car. Much easier with a kitty. We had her here for the week and Bowie and her got along just fine. We had a blockade in the hallway and they each had their own part of the house. The night before he left, we all watched Sleepless in Seattle. Son had never seen it and he really loved it. Sad and Happy!!
I added a few Thanksgiving touches to my existing fall decor. I can only show you 2 pic's. My point and shoot was never great to begin with, but now most shots are out of focus. Hmmmm. I'll have to solve that issue soon. Added a vintage turkey salt shaker. This was the one that started my collection. I found her at Salvation Army. It took a few more years to find the Tom Turkey. For those of you who have been following a long time, you've seen my whole collection of turkey salt and peppers. I just pulled out a few this year. Trying to simplify.
The penny rug is another that I designed and made out of felt. I love the acorn edges.
I'll try to get my camera fixed and post more soon. As I was walking Bowie this morning, I was thinking how lucky I am to be walking Bowie in this pretty fall weather. The weather is damp and cooler here, and we're supposed to get more rain. Hopefully not more flooding. Anyway, just feeling thankful today. Have a great week!

Fun Fall Tablescape and Leaf Banner

It's been awhile since I've done a tablescape. I thought I'd do one with adding orange and fall colors for a fun table.
I found the brown jug at the thrift store, and filled it with grocery store flowers.
Check out Mr. and Mrs. Chipmunk salt and pepper shakers. Look at his little smile!
All of the orange stuff and gold glasses and wine glasses were also thrifted. The little orange plates were Crate and Barrel via GoodWill.  The bakelite flatware was won at an auction.

The brown woven placemats are from Walmart.I used a burlap table runner that I made a while ago. The brown edged dinner plates were my wedding china,

I used woolfelt to make a new fall banner. My old one was eaten up by something in the garage.
I cut 2 of each free handed leaf shape. Simple embroidery to the veins.I whip stitched the second leaf to the front.
Sewed the leaves onto some vintage seam binding. Done!
I didn't show this wall in the previous posts. In a future post,I'll be explaining how I got to this furniture arrangement in the family room. It took me forever to decide. You can see Bowie's doggie toys in the wooden bowl.
Lots going on around here and it's still around 90 degrees.Come on fall-where are you? Hope you'll are getting some lovely weather. Joining Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch where you can see tons of pretty scapes. Go check it out.
